Feeding your dog or cat does not need to be complex or difficult. There is a vast range of pet foods available on the market but they are not all created equal.
We strongly advise feeding your pet a premium pet food such as Eukanuba dog and cat foods and Iams cat foods.
Why feed Eukanuba?
-
Only the highest quality ingredients are selected. The protein in Eukanuba comes from MEAT whereas many other foods derive their protein from vegetables and cereals such as soyabean and corngluten meal. Soy meal in particular is fermented in the gut to produce gas and flatulence! Thankfully with Eukanuba flatulence is a thing of the past!!
-
With highly digestible ingredients, you feed less food and the stools in the yard are smaller and easy to pick up. There is no need to supplement the diets at all as they are complete and fully balanced for all of the different life stages of your pet.
-
Eukanuba contains only natural flavours, preservatives and colours
-
All adult formulas contain the breakthrough Dental Defense System to help reduce tartar buildup on teeth during and after meals
-
The tailored formulas cater to your pet’s individual needs based on age, size and activity levels. The range is extensive in catering for puppies (small, medium and large breeds), adolescents, adult and senior pets.
-
Eukanuba is carefully balanced with omega 6:3 fatty acids that help reduce inflammation and itching. This helps to keep the skin healthier and give the coat more shine. Omega fatty acids are also very helpful for pets that have arthritis.
What about cost?
Most people are surprised to learn that in most cases, premium pet food can be fed for the same cost or less than most supermarket brands. In general, pets do not need to be fed as much which means that the same quantity of food lasts a lot longer.
-
A 10 kg dog can be fed Eukanuba maintenance adult formula for around 70 cents per day!
-
A 5kg cat can be fed for around 50 cents per day!!
In addition to this, our Hospital offers the Eukanuba Reward Card system which gives even further discounts to our loyal customers!
Feeding Tips
Always change a dog or cat’s diet slowly over 5-7 days as sudden changes of diet can lead to gastrointestinal upsets.
Some dogs and cats are lactose intolerant so avoid giving cows milk. In fact, they have no need for milk as their calcium requirements are fully provided by feeding complete and balanced diets.
Guidelines for the amount to feed are provided on the packaging of commercial food. Ask us for advice if you are still unsure as to the amount to feed.
Further tips for feeding puppies and kittens can be found in puppy and kitten care.
We also carry the Hills Science diet range here at the Hospital and we can order in other types of premium foods for you if you prefer.
All of our nurses are highly trained in dog and cat nutrition so please feel free to discuss any dietary questions with any member of our team.
